Thai PM encourages children to contribute to national development

BANGKOK, January 9 (TNA) - On the occasion of the National Children’s Day on January 12, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has encouraged children and teenagers to contribute to national development, learn both in and outside classrooms and be prepared for the ASEAN Community (AC), set to be formed by 2015. The prime minister sent the message to 728 students who have built good reputation for the nation and met her on Wednesday, saying that they are good examples for youths in general and can play important roles in national development. The prime minister said that the Thai society has been changing rapidly and new technologies have brought about new knowledge, suggesting learning is, thus, not limited only at classrooms and ones need to find forums for their expressions, look for opportunities to learn, study English and other foreign languages and learn the cultures of neighboring countries,” Premier Yingluck’s motto for the National Children’s Day this year is for the Thai youthes to be disciplined, keen to learn and ready to promote Thailand in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), explaining that discipline is the key to the development of the younger generations and their learning can help prepare Thailand for the forthcoming regional integration. The prime minister also extended her best wishes to the children and teenagers, wishing them to be major forces for national development and to be successful and happy. (TNA)
