Thai PM expresses condolences over Pakistan helicopter crash

BANGKOK, May 9 (TNA), Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed condolences to the families of ambassadors of Philippines and Norway and five other victims who were killed in a helicopter accident in Pakistan on Friday. Deputy government spokesperson Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd told reporters on Saturday General Prayut was sorry to learn about the crash-landing of the military helicopter in Pakistan’s north Gilgit region that resulted in deaths of seven Pakistanis and foreigners, including the Norwegian and Philippine envoys, wife of Malaysian ambassador, Pakistani engineer and two Pakistani pilots. “On behalf of the Thai government, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the governments of Norway, the Philippine and Pakistan and to the families of all the victims,” General Prayut was quoted as saying by Major General Sansern. The deputy government spokesperson said General Prayut has also extended his moral support to Thai Ambassador to Pakistan Tomwit Jarnson, who was among a group of local and foreign guests that was going to Naltar valley of Gilgit on a work trip but was travelling on another helicopter when the crash-landing occurred. “General Prayut wants Tomwit to continue performing his duties as the Thai representative in Pakistan,” he said.
