Thai PM follows up flood prevention plans

BANGKOK, January 6 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra chaired a meeting of her government's strategic committee for water resource management at Bangkok's Government House on Friday to follow up flood prevention plans, including an immediate one worth 17 billion baht. Yingluck ordered concerned officials to accomplish the immediate flood prevention plan before the next rainy season and also considered a long-term flood prevention project set to be proposed before the Thai Cabinet at its next meeting. The meeting of the government's water management committee also considered comprehensive flood prevention measures which will sponsored by a state budget of about 350 billion baht. The prime minister, meanwhile, ordered the Thai military to take good care of people in the Thai South who have been affected by a new round of floods since the beginning of this year. (TNA)
