Thai PM Inspects Flood-Hit Areas in Prachin Buri

PRACHIN BURI, Sept 29 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Sunday was flown by a helicopter to inspect flood – affected areas in Prachin Buri province, 135 km northeast of Bangkok, bordering Cambodia as the situation there remains critical. Accompanied by several ministers including Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan, Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt and Public Health Minister Dr. Pradit Sintavanarong, the prime minister inspected sluice gates in Kabin Buri district, now severely inundated, before attending a briefing with senior provincial officials and to map out plans to cope with flood in the province. Miss Yingluck presented necessities to flood victims before returning to Bangkok in the afternoon. Besides Kabin Buri, Si Maha Phot is another district in the province which is being hit by severe flood. Several key roads in the district are now under floodwater, forcing people to travel by boat. On Saturday, villagers in the district demanded the government to help solve their hardships urgently. Also, more than 20 companies located within the 304 Industrial Park in Si Maha Phot have been affected after the flood inundated the industrial estate. More damages are expected as floodwater is about to enter other plants located there. (TNA)
