Thai PM joins ASEAN Summit in Myanmar

NAY PYI TAW, MYANMAR, November 12 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is participating in the 25th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related forums in Myanmar, after attending the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Beijing earlier this week. Accompanied by his entourage, including his wife, Naraporn Chan-ocha, General Prayut arrived in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar's capital on Tuesday night (local time), and attended the official opening of this year's ASEAN Summit and related forums on Wednesday morning. Top agenda of the two-day 25th ASEAN Summit and related forums, scheduled for November 12-13, include a review on progress of regional preparations for the formation of the ASEAN Community (AC) by the end of 2015, along with discussions on plans to further enhancing regional cooperation on trade, investment and even security. A key document, dubbed the Nay Pyi Taw Framework for the ASEAN Community Post-2015 Vision, is expected to be endorsed at this year's ASEAN Summit, together with others. Apart from meeting with other ASEAN leaders, the Thai prime minister will also meet leaders of ASEAN's dialogue partners, including China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Australia and India, as well as a United Nations delegation. The related forums, normally organised with the annual ASEAN Summit, include the East Asia Summit, the ASEAN+3 Summit, the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), the ASEAN-UN Summit and the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Meeting.
