Thai PM to leave China for 25th ASEAN Summit in Myanmar

BEIJING, China, November 11 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is scheduled to leave China for Myanmar on Tuesday to attend the 25th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar's capital, set from November 12-13. Accompanied by his entourage, General Prayut is slated to fly directly from the Chinese capital, Beijing, to Nay Pyi Taw after this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit ends on Tuesday afternoon. Earlier in the day, the Thai leader attended the first session of the 22nd APEC Summit, during which issues on moving toward a regional economic integration by member economies were discussed. Following a group photo taking and a joint tree planting ceremony, the Thai prime minister then joined a luncheon discussion with other APEC leaders, during which issues on creating comprehensive connectivity and further developing basic infrastructure in the region were raised. The second session of the 22nd APEC Summit, was later followed, in which the Thai prime minister was participating in a discussion on further promoting the regional development with innovations and economic reform, as well as sustainable growth and prosperity. This year's APEC forums, also dubbed the 2014 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders' Week, include the Concluding Senior Officials' Meeting from November 5-6, the APEC Ministerial Meeting from November 7-8 and the APEC Summit, the 22nd of its kind, from November 10-11.
