Thai PM leaves for APEC summit in Beijing

BANGKOK, November 9 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha arrived in Beijing to attend the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders” Meeting. Accompanied by his wife and senior officials, Gen. Prayut will attend the meeting which will be held in the Chinese capital on November 10 – 11. The APEC summit will be held under the theme called ‘Shaping the future through Asia-Pacific partnership’. It will focus on three major issues including advancing regional economic integration, promoting innovative development, economic reform and growth, and strengthening comprehensive development in infrastructure and connectivity. These three major issues are in line with the policy and strategy laid out by the current interim government. Gen. Prayut is also scheduled to confer with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other government leaders on bilateral issues aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries. Gen. Prayut is scheduled to leave Beijing for Myanmar’s capital Nay Pyi Taw to attend the 6th Mekong-Japan summit due to start next Wednesday.(TNA)
