Thai PM leaves Bangkok for Phnom Penh

BANGKOK, October 30 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has left Bangkok for Phnom Penh for his two-day official visit to Cambodia, set from October 30-31, aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries. Accompanied by his entourage, including his wife, General Prayut departed from Thailand's military airport in Don Muang area in the capital on Thursday afternoon. In Phnom Penh, the Thai prime minister is scheduled to meet his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen to discuss plans for mutual benefits between Cambodia and Thailand, including cooperation to boost border trade and investment. The Thai leader is also scheduled to witness the signing of three memoranda of understanding (MOUs) between Cambodia and Thailand on tourism cooperation, human trafficking prevention and suppression and cross-border railway connectivity. The Thai premier was also set to have an audience with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni to report Thailand's assistance for Cambodia in the fields of education and public health. The Thai prime minister and his entourage are also scheduled to attend a dinner reception, hosted by the Cambodian government, in Phnom Penh on Thursday evening. Prime Minister General Prayut's ongoing trip to Cambodia is his third official visit to foreign countries, after Myanmar and Italy earlier this month. The Thai prime minister will later attend this year's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit and related forums in China from November 9-11 and ASEAN Summit and related forums in Myanmar from November 12-13.
