Thai PM meets "Annan" in Switzerland

BANGKOK, September 10 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has met with former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, during her ongoing trip to Switzerland. During their meeting in Geneva on Monday afternoon (local time), Yingluck and Annan exchanged their views on how to promote democracy and to create reconciliation in Thailand. Annan also acknowledged that he has monitored political reform processes in Thailand. The Thai prime minister's meeting with the ex-UN chief was on sidelines of her official visit to Switzerland, starting from September 8, during which she also attended the 24th Session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The Thai premier is also scheduled to pay her official visits to Italy, the Vatican and Montenegro respectively later this week, after ending her visit to Switzerland, before returning to Thailand on September 15.
