Thai PM meets Swiss President

GENEVA, September 11 (TNA) - Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has paid a courtesy call on President of the Swiss Confederation Ueli Maurer to discuss Thailand’s development on national reconciliation and political stability. During the meeting on Tuesday (local time), Yingluck also expressed her appreciation to Switzerland’s support for Thailand national reconciliation process by sending Swiss experts to exchange views and ideas on the matter in Thailand. On the occasion, the Thai premier also thanked the Swiss Confederation for importing over 10,000 tonnes of Thai rice last year. Accompanied by her entourage, the Thai prime minister then departed for her official trip to Italy, ending her official visit to Switzerland, during which she also attended the 24th Session of the United Nations' Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The Thai leader has reportedly arrived in Italy, where she is scheduled, among other itineraries, to hold bilateral talks with her Italian counterpart Enrico Letta, before leaving for the Vatican and Montenegro later this week, also for her official visits. The Thai prime minister is scheduled to return home on September 15, wrapping up her one-week trip to Europe. (TNA)
