Thai PM, military chiefs extend New Year wishes to top statesman

BANGKOK, January 1 (TNA) - Thailand’s caretaker prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra on New Year’s Day made a courtesy call on General Prem Tinsulanonda, president of the Privy Council and also a statesman, to offer him best wishes for the year ahead. Accompanied by General Nipat Thonglek, permanent secretary for Defence, and commanders of the three armed forces, Yingluck presented a bouquet of flowers to General Prem at his private residence here in Bangkok. Meanwhile, many well-wishers gathered on Wednesday at Klai Kangwon Palace in Hua Hin, Thailand’s royal beach resort, to present New Year wishes to Their Majesties the King and Queen. Many officials and people were seen lining in queue to wish the revered King and Queen good health and happiness.(TNA)
