Thai PM orders hunt for wrongdoers

BANGKOK, December 16 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to hunt for and arrest wrongdoers, especially those offending the royal institution, including those making movements overseas. Prime Minister General Prayut told journalists that he made the order at a joint meeting of the Cabinet and the NCPO at Bangkok's Government House earlier in the day. The prime minister stressed that he instructed the NCPO to arrest wrongdoers of all offences, especially those charged with lese majeste under Section 112 of the Criminal Code. The prime minister said his order covers wrongdoers who are hiding in other countries, noting that the NCPO was told to convince other countries not to let the wrongdoers make movements on their territories. The Thai premier acknowledged many international human rights laws have blocked the extradition of wrongdoers; so, the NCPO needs to tell authorities in other countries that wrongdoers' movements on their territories divide the Thai society, threaten national security and refer to the Thai monarchy in unacceptable manners.
