Thai PM orders tight security after bombing in Bangkok's Ramkhamhaeng area

BANGKOK, May 27 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has ordered security authorities to monitor the situation closely, after Sunday night's bomb blast in Bangkok's Ramkhamhaeng area which injured several people and damaged stalls, but the authorities have initially attributed the incident to a business conflict. Thai Government Spokesman Teerat Rattanasevi told journalists on Monday morning that Premier Yingluck was concerned over the bombing near Ramkhamhaeng 43/1 Road and she has instructed security authorities to closely monitor the situation. Teerat said although the authorities have initially attributed the explosion to a business conflict, they have not ruled out terrorism and political conflicts and they are expected to soon conclude the exact cause of the incident, which has affected public confidence. Teerat acknowledged that the prime minister has ordered the authorities to particularly intensify security measures in the scene and its vicinity, as it is a crowded area in the capital and it is near Ramkhamhaeng University. Meanwhile, investigators have found dozens of nails and pieces of an electronic circuits and electric wires at the bombing scene in front of a branch of Bangkok Bank. The officers said they believe that an improvised explosive device was placed in a garbage pile at the entrance of Ramkhamhaeng 43/1 Road. (TNA)
