Thai PM to pay historic visit to Mozambique

BANGKOK, June 7 (TNA) - Thailand's Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is scheduled to pay a historic visit to Mozambique in late July 2013, as she will be the first Thai leader to make an official trip to the Southeast African nation since both nations established their diplomatic relations in 1989. Premier Yingluck's tentatively-scheduled trip to Mozambique was announced on Friday, when visiting Mozambican Transportation and Communications Minister Paolo Zucula paid a courtesy call on her in Bangkok. The visiting Mozambican Transportation and Communications Minister, meanwhile, praised Thailand and other member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for their peacefulness and steadily-growing economies, as well as their expertise in several areas in which Mozambique is interested in. As Mozambique and Thailand have agreed to support the expansion of bilateral cooperation, particularly aviation connections, the visiting Mozambican minister sought Thailand's cooperation on the development of airport management, covering personnel and relevant technological development. The visiting Mozambican minister said that his country is improving national airports and air traffic control systems to meet international standards and the Thai premier, has, therefore, assigned the Thai Ministry of Transport to discuss the aviation cooperation between both nations in details.(TNA)
