Thai PM pays attention to students' health

BANGKOK, October 5 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has paid attention to students' good health and ordered a solution to rotten school milk before the new school semester starts next month. Thai Government Spokesman Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd told journalists on Monday that the prime minister has ordered agencies concerned, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Public Health, to jointly solve the problem of rotten school milk in many provinces to protect young students. The spokesman stressed that the Thai government will take tough actions against corruption, which may be the cause of the problem, like school milk suppliers had substandard subcontractors to deliver milk to schools, and any collusion which resulted in the contracts of substandard suppliers. The spokesman insisted that the prime minister attaches great importance to education, including the school milk project as it has much significance for the bodies and brains of Thai children and relevant problems must, thus, be solved quickly before the new school term starts. According to the spokesman, officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Coopeatives' Department of Livestock Development, the Ministry of Public Health's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and provincial public health offices will jointly inspect school milk factories in 40 Thai provinces shortly until next month to check their required standard.
