Thai PM postpones Singapore trip to January 2014

BANGKOK, November 22 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra postpones her trip to neighbouring Singapore until early next year, as a House censure debate against her and Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan is also scheduled next week. Government Spokesman Teerat Ratanasevi told journalists on Friday that Premier Yingluck’s visit to Singapore, earlier set from November 26–27, 2013 has been adjourned to January 2014, as it coincides with a House session on the no-confidence debate, expected from November 26-28, before the closure of Thailand's current parliamentary session on November 29. Next week's no-confidence debate is anticipated to be focused on the Yingluck administration's alleged corruption concerning its new mega infrastructure investment projects and the controversial amnesty bill. According to the spokesman, a mobile Cabinet meeting in the southern Songkhla Province will be carried on as scheduled, November 29-30. The Thai prime minister was earlier scheduled to attend a retreat, an informal meeting, with her Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong on November 26-27. (TNA)
