Thai PM postpones US trip

BANGKOK, July 12 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has postponed his planned trip to the United States this month until a more appropriate time to be officially announced later. Thai Foreign Minister Dom Pramudwinai told journalists of the update on July 11, saying that the prime minister needs more time to prepare relevant information for discussions with Washington on issues of mutual interests. "More times are needed for the prime minister to prepare relevant information to ensure an effectiveness and a success of talks between the Thai and the US leaders", the minister explained. According to the foreign minister, the prime minister's rescheduled trip to the United States will be officially announced later, which may probably happen after the Royal Cremation of Thailand's late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in October 2017. Earlier, the Thai prime minister was reportedly planning to pay a fresh visit to the United States within this month at the invitation of US President Donald Trump in a telephone conservation between the two leaders a few months ago.
