BANGKOK, August 3 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha will send his letter of sympathy to Myanmar on August 4 for the neighboring country's severe flooding, which has killed 27 people and affected 150,000 others even though no Thais have been reportedly among the flood victims. Deputy Government Spokesman Major General Werachon Sukondhapatipak told journalists of the information on Monday, noting that the Thai prime minister's letter will be sent to Myanmar President Thein Sein. The deputy spokesman stated that the Thai government has initially donated 5 million baht to help flood victims in Myanmar, confirming that no Thai people were among the casualties. The deputy spokesman noted that Myanmar Ambassador in Bangkok H.E. U Win Maun is also scheduled to discuss assistance for Myanmar with the Thai government on August 4. According to the deputy spokesman, Thailand may open a center to gather assistance or implement other measures to be proposed by Myanmar. Meanwhile, the Thai Cabinet, at its weekly meeting on August 5, was also set to discuss more assistance to people in this week's flood-hit areas in Thailand. (TNA)
