Thai PM to visit Brunei in March

BANGKOK, February 6 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is scheduled to pay an official visit to Brunei in late March 2015, with his detailed itinerary to be later announced. Government Spokesman Dr. Yongyuth Mayalarp told journalists of the information on Friday, after H.E. Dato Paduka Haji Kamis bin Haji Tamin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to Thailand, paid a courtesy on the Thai prime minister to bid farewell as his term ends. During the meeting, the spokesman stated, the outgoing Bruneian ambassador thanked Thai people for warm welcome, saying the two countries have enjoyed sound relations at all levels. Besides, the outgoing Bruneian top envoy asked Thailand to help push for English as a central language in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), while Brunei is ready to support Thai education in English programs. According to the spokesman, the Thai prime minister, in turn, asked Brunei to help promote the Thai halal industry and support Thailand to become a goods distribution center in ASEAN, while extending his thankfulness to Brunei for taking good care of Thai workers and asking Brunei to inform the Thai government of any suspected human trafficking case for further legal action.
