Thai PM to visit Cambodia Oct 30-31

BANGKOK, October 29 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is scheduled to pay a two-day official visit to Cambodia from October 30-31, aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between Bangkok and Phnom Penh. The upcoming trip to Cambodia by Prime Minister General Prayut, who is also Chief of the Thai army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), is also aimed to move forward earlier-stalled major cooperation projects between Bangkok and Phnom Penh. During his stay in Cambodia, the Thai prime minister will be granted an audience with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and meet his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen to discuss joint energy development projects between the two neighboring countries and transport connectivity in the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN), in which both Thailand and Cambodia are members. The Thai premier is also scheduled to exchange views with Thai business operators in Cambodia, introduce his policies to Thai authorities there and visit the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Business Support Center. Besides, the Thai leader will witness the signing of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) on the suppression of child and woman trafficking and assistance for victims of human trafficking, cross-border railway link and tourism cooperation. At present, Thailand and Cambodia have good ties, as both neighboring countries have agreed to set aside their unsettled issues from those on general relations. Cambodia will be the second destination in ASEAN for Prime Minister General Prayut's official visits, after his official trip to Myanmar earlier this month, from October 9-10. (TNA)
