Thai PM to visit Northeast

BANGKOK, June 29 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is scheduling to visit Mukdahan and Yasothon Provinces from June 30-July 1 to inspect local agricultural projects. Government Spokesman Thirat Rattanasewi told journalists that Premier Yingluck will inspect progress of organic farming projects in Yasothon’s Maha Chana Chai District, as well as water retention and irrigation project in Yasothorn’s Loeng Nok Tha District. The Premier will then travel to Nongsoong District in neighbouring Mukdahan Province to learn the locals’ efforts to transform the area into another Thailand's cultural attraction. The premier will also visit Thai-Lao border areas to inspect border trade and to discuss ways to further reduce trade barriers between the two neighbouring countries. The Thai premier, on Friday, stressed the government's policy on further improving the quality of life of people in the Thai agricultural sector, when he inaugurated the “Food & Fruit Festival”, held at the Impact Trade and Exhibition Centre in Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok from June 28-July 4.
