Thai PM visits northeastern region

UBON RATCHATHANI, THAILAND, November 12 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is visiting the Thai Northeast on Thursday to follow up progresses on his government-sponsored programmes and to meet local people, aimed at strengthening cooperation between his administration and the people there. Accompanied by his entourage, including Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak, who oversees economic affairs, Interior Minister General Anupong Paochinda and Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister General Chatchai Sarikulya, the prime minister arrived in Ubon Ratchathani Province earlier in the day. The prime minister was then briefed on local water management and agricultural projects, before leading his entourage to inspect progress on his government’s economic stimulus programmes during the one-day trip. The premier and his entourage are also scheduled to hold a meeting with business operators from four lower northeastern Thai provinces at Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University before returning to Bangkok in the evening.
