Thai PM vows to get rid of security threats

BANGKOK, February 10 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has praised Thai police for successfully cracking down a global fake passport network in the Thai East, vowing that his government and the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), also led by him, will continue suppressing influential figures and eliminating security threats. Government Spokesman Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd told journalists on Wednesday that the prime minister was informed of the Thai police's action against the fake passport gang in Chachoengsao Province and expressed his appreciation to police officers at all levels who took part in the case. The spokesman quoted the prime minister as saying that the performance has promoted the dignity of Thai police and their organization. According to the spokesman, the prime minister also gave moral support to officials who seriously tackle both Thai and foreign criminals threatening national security. The arrested head of the global fake passport gang is an Iranian who has stayed in Thailand for 25 years, while the police also arrested four accomplices and seized many items related to their passport forgery, reportedly to have clients worldwide.
