Thai PM won’t discuss reconciliation with ex-PM Thaksin

BANGKOK, February 16 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha says he will not discuss reconciliation with exiled-ex prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, as recently proposed by a National Reform Council (NRC) member, stressing that anyone wanting reconciliation must return to the Thai justice system first. In response to the proposal, aired by NRC whip committee spokesman Wanchai Sornsiri, Prime Minister General Prayut noted that NRC has no authority to order the discussion and, as a government official, he or his representative cannot talk with Thaksin, suggesting that anyone who wants reconciliation has to return to the Thai justice system first. Regarding the possibility of amnesty, the prime minister insisted that everything must be based on the Thai justice system and it is impossible for him, as a government official, to reach any deal in favor of any party. According to the Thai prime minister, he is solving problems for national progress and he is open to every party as long as it is legal. (TNA)
