Thai PM:Interim government will continue moving nation forward in all fields

BANGKOK, April 17 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha says that his interim government will continue moving Thailand forward in all fields to sustain national development. Prime Minister General Prayut, who is also Chief of the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), made the remarks on Friday, while reporting his interim government's performances in its first six months in office. During his 90-minute speech at Bangkok's Government House, the prime minister stressed that his government has tried to resolve accumulative cruxes and set three stages in addressing the national problems. The first stage, the prime minister elaborated, was focused on solving the problems, the second stage was for implementing a Provisional Charter and accelerating budget disbursements in the present 2015 fiscal year by government agencies and the ongoing third stage is for completing the drafting of a fresh Constitution so that a new general election will be held after its approval. The prime minister insisted that he does not intend to stay in power for too long, while urging the public to look into his interim government’s performances. The Thai premier also urged certain educational institutes to review their syllabus to match with the national reform and the media to criticise the government in a constructive way. On social affairs, Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Yongyuth Yuthavong reported that the interim government was able to reduce social disparity and several other social problems during the first six months in office, including human trafficking-related issues. Dr. Yongyut noted that the government has also set up a committee tasked with developing education at the primary and and the vocational levels. The interim Thai government has been in office since September 2014, a couple of months after NCPO took over the national administrative power on May 22. (TNA)
