Thai PM:World must reduce inequality

NEW YORK, September 28 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has called on the world community to reduce inequality, saying that Thailand has passed many laws to promote equality and empower local communities. Delivering his speech in the UN Summit in New York, aimed to adopt the Post-2015 Development Agendas, the prime minister pointed out inequality has resulted from poverty, migration and fights for resources and has caused a large number of social problems. The Thai premier proposed equal access to resources and public services to help solve the problem. According to the Thai prime minister, his government is reducing inequality in Thailand by helping the underprivileged with universal health care, increasing allowances for the elderly, new poor mothers and persons with disabilities (PWDs), while also protecting millions of foreign workers from human trafficking and human rights violation. The Thai leader assessed that inequality and poverty should improve in the Kingdom over the next 15 years. Prime Minister General Prayut stressed that Thailand is ready to cooperate with other countries and the United Nations to achieve sustainable development so that everyone will be strong with a happy, secured and sustainable life. The Thai prime minister is visiting the United States from September 24-30 to attend the UN General Assembly 2015 in New York. (TNA)
