Thai police continue collecting more evidence on murder of two Britons

SURAT THANI, THAILAND, September 26 (TNA) - Police have continued collecting evidence related to a recent murder of two Britons on Koh Tao, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand off Surat Thani Province in the Thai South, and increased a cash reward to 700,000 baht for anyone who can provide a tip-off leading to the arrest of murderers. After 12 days of an official probe into the murder of the two British tourists, Police Major General Suwat Chaengyodsuk, a commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, on Friday joined hands with Provincial Police Region 8 personnel in seeking for more evidence, including collecting DNA from more Thais and migrant workers on the island, suspected of probably involving in the murder. There are more than 4,000 migrant workers, mostly from Myanmar, staying on Koh Tao now, but officials said more than 1,000 out of the total have not yet been legally registered. Some of them violated authorities' order and left Koh Tao on Thursday night. Soldiers from the Vibhavadi Rangsit Army Camp were, meanwhile, helping set regulations for the migrant workers staying on the island. The bodies of the two British victims, identified as 24-year-old David William Miller and 23-year-old Hannah Victoria Witheridge, were found on Koh Tao on September 15.(TNA)
