Thai police follows up elephant killing case

BANGKOK, March 10 (TNA) – Thailand’s assistant national police chief Police Lieutenant General Jaramporn Suramanee is leading an investigation into the shooting of a female elephant, which was found dead in the Kaeng Krachan National Park, Phetchaburi province on March 8. Police officials say they suspect a group of ivory hunters who have been active since last year. Early Sunday morning, before his departure to Phetchaburi, Police Lieutenant General Jaramporn told Thai News Agency two suspects from the last year’s case had been arrested. Crime scene investigators had previously been collecting fingerprints and DNA samples as evidence for police to carry out arrests. (TNA)
