Thai police on high alert following terror attack in Jakarta

BANGKOK, Jan 17 (TNA) Deputy national police chief Police General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul has issued 16 measures, ordering police personnel to stay on high alert following Thursday’s terror attack in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Pol. Gen. Srivara issued the urgent order, requiring police to provide protection to important places such as airports, embassies and popular tourist destinations as well as to important local and foreign figures. Other measures include coordinating with the military in conducting a joint patrol and screening people entering or leaving the country by the immigration police. Police have also guarded the Indonesian embassy in Bangkok around-the-clock following last week’s attack on Jakarta. (TNA)
