Thai police monitors Bangkok rally

BANGKOK, Nov 3 (TNA) – Thailand’s National police chief Pol. Gen. Adul Saengsingkaew has ordered police to monitor anti-government protests as they rally against the Amnesty Bill in Bangkok and upcountry. A deputy spokesman of the Centre for Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) Anucha Romyanan said Sunday that Pol. Gen. Adul also told police to prepare contingency plans and establish checkpoints near rally sites to prevent weapons possession. Pol. Maj. Gen. Piya Uthayo, spokesman of CAPO admitted that police were concerned about the ongoing movement as they could create traffic problems and public anger. He said police were prepared for Monday’s situation, in which demonstrators said they would move to “several key areas”. He said certain roads could be closed where a protest march occurs. (TNA)
