Thai police nab foreign suspects of criminal, immigration cases

BANGKOK, March 17 (TNA) - Thai immigration police have arrested two dozens of foreigners suspected of committing serious criminal cases in North America and illegal immigration. In the first case, Thai Immigration Police Commander Police Lieutenant General Sakda Chuenphakdee, told journalists on Tuesday that an American suspect, identified as 56-year-old Joseph Simon Arsenault, was arrested on Sukhumvit 71 Road in Bangkok's Watthana District for telemarketing fraud. Earlier, a Michigan court issued an arrest warrant against Arsenault on November 19, 2014, after his cartel allegedly tricked 290 victims in the United States and Canada out of 700 million baht by luring them into "housing investment". In another case, Antonius Ceulen, former chairman and chief executive of Lippman Corporation SA, was arrested at a condominium on Bangkok's Ram Intra Road for alleged investment fraud. Earlier, a Wisconsin court issued an arrest warrant against Ceulen, after his gang allegedly took 400,000 US dollars from 12 victims from November 1996- June 1997. The suspect fled to Thailand in 2004 and had a Thai wife in the northern Chiang Rai Province. Besides, Thai immigration and narcotic suppression police arrested 22 Somalis at the Sri Phuang Phet building on Bangkok's Ram Khamhaeng 24 Road for allegedly illegal immigration and, if found guilty, they will be all deported from Thailand.
