Thai police to use digital billboards in traces for missing people, stolen vehicles

BANGKOK, August 26 (TNA) - Thai police will use digital billboards to communicate information on missing people and stolen vehicles, after its successful tentative use. Newly-appointed National Police Chief Police General Somyot Poompanmoung on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with representatives of the Thai General Insurance Association, the Mirror Foundation and Plan B Media Co. for the screening of such information on digital billboards in Bangkok. Police General Somyot then told journalists that the information to be disseminated via digital billboards at intersections and electric train stations in Greater Bangkok was intended to eliminate room in the society for the bad. Under the MOU, Police General Somyot revealed, the Thai General Insurance Association offers 1.4-million-baht bounties, ranging from 15,000 to 50,000 baht per case, for those providing clues to the arrests of 50 major car thieves. According to the incoming national police chief,information of missing persons will also be screened on the digital billboards, as the communication has led to the finding of many missing persons so far.
