BANGKOK, September 26. /TASS/. Thai princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn plans to visit Russia next year to mark the 120th anniversary of establishing bilateral diplomatic ties, Russia’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand Kirill Barsky said in an interview with TASS. "Thai colleagues have informed us about the possibility of Princess Sirindhorn’s visit next fall. This is a joyous and important event. We know how busy Her Royal Highness’s schedule usually is," the ambassador noted. The Russian diplomat pointed out that Princess Sirindhorn had visited Russia in 1993, she went to Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Astrakhan (a city in southern Russia) and Ulan-Ude (the capital city of the Republic of Buryatia, Siberia). "After learning about the princess’s possible visit and her passion for photography, a number of Russian businessmen have taken the initiative to organize an exhibition of Her Royal Highness’s works in Moscow," Barsky added. Russia and Thailand will mark the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year. The contacts between the two countries’ representatives at "a high political level" will take place on this occasion. "During his stay in Russia this past May, Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha conveyed invitations to visit Thailand on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of bilateral relations to the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. On the whole, I must say that the two countries’ heads of governments have reached a general agreement that the mutual visits will take place annually from now on," the Russian ambassador said.
