"Thai Rice, Thai Ways of Life" event to be held March 5-April 5

BANGKOK, February 27 (TNA) - The "Thai Rice, Thai Ways of Life" event will be organised near Bangkok's Government House from March 5- April 5, 2015, aimed to promote processed Thai rice products and to boost income of local farmers and producers. Renu Tunkachivangoon, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs, told journalists, after chairing a meeting of parties concerned on preparations for the event, that the one-month event will be held at a location along the Phadung Krung Kasem Canel near Bangkok's Government House. Renu said Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha will preside over the opening of the one-month event in the evening of March 5. Renu stated that the "Thai Rice, Thai Ways of Life", held after the recent opening of the orchid and floating markets at the same location, will provide a platform for farmers and producers of community-based processed Thai rice products to directly sell their goods to consumers. According to the senior official, apart from over 80 vendors participating in the event, there will also be an exhibition on Thai rice in honour of the royal Thai monarchy and four separate zones on Thai rice of different four Thai regions to showcase how people in the different regions consume rice, as well as a stage on cultural performances from different Thai regions.
