Thai South on high alert against Cyclone Mahasen

BANGKOK, May 17 (TNA) - Southern Thai areas have been on high alert against "Mahasen", after local weathermen have warned of possible impacts of the approaching cyclone from May 17-19. In Ranong province, Governor Cherdsak Jampathes said on Friday that he has signed in a most urgent letter ordering local agencies concerned to prepare public relief measures for possible disasters, including flooding, windstorms, landslides and huge waves during the three-day period at risk. According to the Ranong governor, the concerned agencies have been instructed to be on standby around the clock; while local people have been advised to closely follow up updated weather reports.
