Thai southern provinces free of haze

SONGKHLA, Oct 10 (TNA) -- Director-general Environment Office 16 of Songkhla province, Halem Jemarican said that haze has now been cleared from the provinces in the south. However, he said the situation must still be closely monitored around the clock, until the southwestern monsoon moves out from the Anadaman Sea, the Thai southern region and the Gulf of Thailand in the beginning of November. The latest report by the office showed that the level of smog in the area has declined continuously, with the level of the particulate matter 10 (PM10) lowering to within the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) of 120 microgrammes per cubic metre. Phuket resort island is only seeing a PSI level of 22 microgrammes per cubic metre, said Mr Halem, adding that other provinces are also seeing clean and clear weather. (TNA)
