Thai students win 38 medals at Primary Maths World Contest

BANGKOK, July 15 (TNA) - Thai primary school students won 38 medals for 20 prizes in the, held in the Primary Mathematics World Contest 2016 (PMWC) in Hong Kong. Karun Sakulpradit, Secretary-General at the Office of the Basic Education Commission said 16 Thai students divided into four teams competed in the PMWC 2016 in Hong Kong from July 11-16. Thai students swept 20 awards with 38 medals. For individual competition, Thai students took home three gold, seven silver and four bronze medals. In the category of team with the total highest scores, two teams of Thai students won eight medals for two prizes, the second runner-up and the honourable mention prize. Interestingly, the team of Sutheethorn Kindergarten from Nakhon Pathom was given four medals for the honorable mention award and also received the Cultural Performance Award for their performance, called “Proud to be Thai”. 160 students from 15 countries including China, the US, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Australia joined the competition. Thai students will return home tomorrow (July 16) at 9 pm. (TNA)
