Thai students win top prizes at China's Harbin Int'l Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival 2015

BANGKOK, January 9 (TNA) - Thailand's vocational students have brought fames to the nation by, again, winning top prizes at the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival 2015 in China. Akanit Klangsaeng, Deputy Secretary-General of the Vocational Education Commission, under the Ministry of Education, told journalists on Friday that a team of Thai students from Saraburi Vocational College has won the first prize at this year's Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, the 31st annual competition of its kind, for their master piece on high speed train building up Thai-Sino relations toward the future", marking the 40th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations. Besides, Akanit stated, two more Thai student teams, one is from Surat Thani Vocational College and the other from Saowapa Vocational Colleges, have won the second prize and the popular vote prize at the 31st Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival. The senior official said it is the 6th consecutive year that Thai youths have honourably brought the championship back home since Thai vocational student teams first joined such the competition in Harbin in 2010. According to the senior official, there were 69 international youth teams participating in the Harbin Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival 2015, which started on January 5, with each team required to create an ice sculpture within a four-day period under a frozen range of temperatures between -21 and -27 degrees Celsius.
