THAI, TAT jointly organize the "Fly and Bike Thailand" cycling event

BANGKOK, December 10 (TNA) - Thai Airways International (THAI), the national carrier, and the state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have jointly organized the "Fly and Bike Thailand" cycling event, involving 999 bicycles. THAI President Charamporn Jotikasthira and TAT Governor Thawatchai Arunyik launched the 999 bicycles in the Fly and Bike Thailand event on Wednesday in honor of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s 87th birthday anniversary on December 5, 2014. The activity is also aimed at promoting cycling and tours on bicycles. The TAT governor told journalists that the participating bicyclists left the THAI headquarters on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road at 7am and passed Din Daeng Intersection, the Victory Monument, the Royal Plaza, the Rama VIII Bridge and Siriraj Hospital, where they stopped over to extend their best wishes to His Majesty the King. The cyclists ended their trip at the Temple of Dawn, where they prayed for the well-being of His Majesty the King. THAI executive Vice President for Commercial Affairs Suraphon Israngura Na Ayuthya said it was the first collaboration to stage a cycling event by the national airline and TAT and the activity was set today to minimize traffic impacts. THAI and TAT will launch such activities elsewhere in the country and other countries, including Fly and Bike in Chiang Mai, Fly and Bike in Chiang Rai, and Fly and Bike in Phuket events and are expected to bring international tourists who love cycling to Thailand. Such activities in other countries will serve the Thai tourists who want to cycle in other countries THAI will also organize such tours, including cycling in Japan, also to promote eco-tourism.
