Thai university to introduce doctoral course on King's development initiatives

BANGKOK, May 4 (TNA) - Thailand-based Mahidol University, together with the Thailand Sustainable Development Foundation, will, next year, introduce a doctoral course on His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's sustainable development initiatives which have attracted global attention. The new course will be an activity of a recently-established center for sustainable development based on His Majesty the King's Sufficiency Economy Principle. Dr. Udom Kachinthorn, President of Mahidol University, told journalists on Wednesday that the new center will support researches, develop knowledge on the royally-initiated management and present the knowledge locally and internationally. Dr. Udom said that the new course will be focused on immediate solutions to problems and sustainable development which have interested the global community, covering business administration, as well as community and educational management. Noting that lecturers will be both Thai and foreigners, Dr. Udom revealed that the new center will also give scholarships to students who are expected to apply their knowledge properly in the future. Meanwhile, Associated Professor Chirayu Isarankun Na Ayuthaya, Chairman of the Thailand Sustainable Development Foundation, told reporters the Sufficiency Economy Principle that His Majesty the King has introduced since 1999 has been applied for the benefits of Thai people and taught at universities. According to the Mahidol University president, member economies of the Group of 77 (G77) are also highly-interested in the beloved Thai monarch's initiated principle. (TNA)
