Thai workers urged to work in SKorea thru proper channel

BANGKOK, Oct 1 (TNA) - Thais wishing to work in South Korea legally are asked to obtain work permits and proper necessary documents, said a senior labour official. The warning came after some 700 Thais being banned from travelling to South Korea during 11 months from October last year to August this year as they intended to work in that country illegally. Director-general of Labour Ministry’s Employment Department said most of illegal workers travelled with group tours and used tourist visas, which allowed them to stay for 90 days. They would return to Thailand just before their visa expired. Many of them, however, decided to stay on illegally. He urged the would-be workers not to trust an online message on recruitment. If caught, the workers will be blacklisted by South Korean authorities, losing an opportunity to work in that country while tarnishing Thailand’s image simultaneously, Mr. Waranon added. (TNA)
