BANGKOK, May 5 (TNA) - Thailand’s revered monarch His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej left Siriraj Hospital for the Grand Palace for a ceremony to mark the Coronation Day on Tuesday morning, amidst vast crowds dressed in the royal color, extending their best wishes as they lined the road. At 10.30am, the king was accompanied by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince to the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall in the compound of the Grand Palace. Royal family members, privy councilors, ministers and dignitaries attended the royal hall, where Buddhist monks held a special prayer ceremony for almost half-an-hour. Then His Majesty the King returned to the hospital. On Monday, His Majesty the King had His Royal Highness the Crown Prince conduct a related ceremony at the Amarin Winitchai Throne Hall on his behalf. Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha also accompanied the crown prince there. His Majesty the King was formally crowned on May 5, 1946, as the ninth king under the Chakri Dynasty.
