Thailand’s NBTC to launch PR campaigns on digital TV

BANGKOK, October 27 (TNA) - Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) plans to allocate a special budget for public relations (PR) campaigns for the digital television system, while most local digital TV stations currently telecast on a trial basis. A commissioner at the NBTC, Supinya Klangnarong, told journalists that the PR expenses, including those in the 2015 budget, were considered by an NBTC panel overseeing national television and broadcasting on Monday before they will be forwarded to the NBTC board. Supinya said several major issues were also discussed by the NBTC board, including a lone application to auction for a digital TV station, owned by the Secretariat to the House of Representatives, to telecast information, aimed at creating a better understanding between the interim government and the public, as well as between the Parliament and the people. Besides, other issues conferred included NBTC regulations on radio and television programming and a draft NBTC regulation forbidding radio or TV stations from taking advantages from audiences. NBTC began distributing digital TV subsidy coupons, worth 690 baht each, to households nationwide on October 10 and the distribution ended on October 20. (TNA)
