Thailand, allied nations integrate intelligence during New Year celebrations

BANGKOK, December 28 (TNA) - Thailand and friendly nations are integrating their intelligence during ongoing New Year celebrations and have found no signs of any untoward incident so far. Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Spokesman Major General Banpot Punpian told journalists of the information on Monday, saying that in part of Thailand, ISOC are joining forces with all other sectors to watch out any irregular incident during the ongoing New Year celebration, as ordered by Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, who is also Chief of the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). The spokesman stated that security measures have also been stepped up and people have been asked to provide tip-offs of any suspicious movement or object they observe. Besides, local soldiers, police and administrators are jointly operating checkpoints and increasing patrols at sensitive places and areas nationwide, especially at tourist destinations, public parks and highly populated locations. The spokesman stressed that strict security measures are also implemented in violence-plagued Thai Far South during the ongoing New Year Festival as well. The spokesman affirmed that there has had no sign of any terror plot during the ongoing New Year Festival either, vowing that all parties are joining forces to ensure public safety. (TNA)
