Thailand asks Japan to share database against Ebola, technology for elderly

BANGKOK, October 20 (TNA) - Thailand has asked Japan to share its database and measures against the deadly Ebola virus and advance technology for the elderly or persons with disabilities (PWDs). Thai Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Yuthavong, who oversees social affairs, told journalists on Monday that he requested for the Japanese support during his meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Thailand Shigekazu Sato at Bangkok's Government House earlier in the day. Yongyuth said that he sought Japan's support for the sharing of database and measures in order to help prevent, or even control, any outbreak of the fatal Ebola virus in Thailand. According to the deputy prime minister, he also asked Japan's support to transfer robotic technology to Thailand so that locally-developed robots will be introduced in the future to help take care of the elderly and even PWDs in the country. The deputy prime minister proposed that Japan's transfer of robotic technology to Thailand could be in the form of joint ventures with the Thai side. (TNA)
