Thailand assists flood victims in Cambodia

BANGKOK, October 21 (TNA) - The Thai government has provided a financial support of six million baht to flood victims in neighbouring Cambodia. Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul presented the grant to Cambodian Ambassador in Bangkok You Ay on behalf of the Thai government at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday morning. The Cambodian top envoy to Thailand expressed deep gratitude, saying that the grant relieves the burden of the Cambodian Red Cross Society and shows that Thailand is a friend in need. Surapong later told journalists that the assistance followed flooding in Sa Kaeo province in the Thai East, bordering Cambodia, two weeks ago, which also affected Cambodian border areas. According to the deputy premier, he earlier assigned the Thai ambassador to Cambodia to attend an official ceremony in Phnom Penh last week to grant the financial support to Cambodia. (TNA)
