Thailand, China to continue cooperation in all fields

BANGKOK, February 6 (TNA) - Thailand and China have agreed to continue their long-time sound bilateral relations in all areas. The agreement was reached at a meeting in Bangkok on Friday between Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha and Chinese State Councilor and Defence Minister General Chang Wanquan, who is paying an official visit to Thailand from February 5-7 to, particularly, strengthen military ties between Beijing and Bangkok and to promote regional security. Thai Government Spokesman Dr. Yongyuth Mayalarp told a press conference after the meeting that talks between the Thai prime minister and the visiting Chinese state councilor and defence minister were focused on joint Sino-Thai military exercises in 2015, which will be continued from 2014, the first year of the joint Sino-Thai military exercises, and will be, this year, emphasised on relief operations for victims of natural disasters. The spokesman said the visiting Chinese state councilor and defence minister also promised to support Thailand's education and development related to the national defence industry. The spokesman stated that the Thai prime minister also praised the Chinese government’s vision on the Maritime Silk Road and proposed Thailand's participation in the regional project. Besides, the Thai premier urged China to buy more Thai agricultural products and invited more Chinese tourists to visit Thailand during the Chinese New Year Festival later this month. (TNA)
