Thailand concerned over worrying situation in Libya

BANGKOK, February 19 (TNA) - The Thai Foreign Ministry has expressed concern over the continued violence in Libya, urging all sides to respect human rights and international humanitarian laws. Sek Wannamethee, spokesman of the ministry, said on Thursday that Thailand is deeply concerned by the continued violence in Libya which has gravely affected both Libyan civilians and foreign nationals in the country. He said Thailand calls on all sides to put an immediate end to any act of violence against innocent civilians in Libya. The spokesperson said Thailand fully supports international efforts, especially the United Nations-led mediation between all parties concerned, in order to achieve a peaceful solution and restore calm and stability to Libya and the region.
