Thailand Confident Of Having Better Tackled Human Trafficking - PM

BANGKOK, July 28 (Bernama) -- Thailand is confident it has done enough to tackle the human trafficking problem in the country ahead of the launch of the US Trafficking In Persons (TIP) Report for 2015 on Monday, said Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha. He said he already knew of the result of the TIP Report 2015 but declined to reveal anything, saying it was necessary to wait for the official launch in the United States on Monday. The TIP Report is scheduled to be launched in the United States Monday (at about 9 pm in Bangkok). Hinting that Thailand would get a more positive report, Prayuth said: "I'm also confident that the government has done better than before." He said that whether Thailand would be upgraded this year depended on whether the United States had confidence in Thailand and Thailand had to accept the rules. He said the human trafficking problem in Thailand needed time to be solved, "not just one day, one month or one year." He said the government had worked on everything and the situation now was much better than before. He said the government did not tackle the problem just because it was placed in Tier 3 of the TIP last year but because it was the natural thing to do. Tier 3 groups countries where the governments do not fully comply with the minimum standards and are not making significant efforts to do so. --BERNAMA
