Thailand considers aid for cyclone-hit Vanuatu

BANGKOK, March 15 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has offered condolences for victims of a powerful cyclone Pam, which ravaged Vanuatu on Friday, according to the Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry. General Prayut extended the condolences over the tragic cyclone incident when he met Vanuatu President Baldwin Lonsdale on Saturday on the sideline of the third United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Japan. General Prayut said Thailand is considering providing relief assistance to the Pacific Island country. Meanwhile, Sek Wannamethee, Director-General of the ministry’s Information Department, said he has received a confirmation from the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra that all 20 Thai nationals living on the Pacific Island country were unaffected by the category five cyclone that struck the island state on Friday night, causing widespread damage and loss of life.
